THIS ONE IS LIFE-SAVING.

I had something in mind. It was not very clear to me yet. It went on for a few days. It was like a burden in my heart until I let it out. My mind always reminded me constantly that I had to think out something very important I wanted to share with my lovely readers. You might not really grasp this “whole drama”- as you may term it. But, I tell you, it often happens to writers. At last, this is what I came up with: A wonderful (the judgement should be yours) hearty piece.

Human beings we are. Actions we take everyday. Unfortunately, we seldom realize that those actions, as small as some might be, can make or mar us. Now, take a closer look at the following well thought-out points and sincerely tell me what you think:

1.     Make sure to look left, right and left again before you cross a road.

2.     Do not inhale the fume produced by a generator set.

3.     It is not advisable to always have listening aid (ear piece) in your ears.

4.     Do not drink alcoholic beverages before driving.

5.     Be mindful of your speedy flights up and down the staircase.

6.     While driving, assume your family is in the other vehicle and drive responsibly.

7.     Avoid self-medication.

8.     Never answer even a 5-seconds call while driving.

9.     Keep your eyes at a distance while putting out fire in your cooking and lighting equipment.

10.  Make sure your fingers are out before jamming the doors of the car and house.

11.   Be sure not to spray fragrances and perfumes near naked light or into your eyes.

12.   Keep away your stored fuel from any source of fire.

13.  For the ladies, make sure your handbag is zipped and held tight to avoid being stranded.

14.  Wind up the glasses of your car when it is stationary.

15.   Do not eat sugary items immediately before going to bed.

16.   Do not lie down immediately after taking your medicine.

17.   Avoid throwing stones.

18.   Make sure your keys are handy before you lock your door. You may lock yourself out.

19.    Do not forget that your food is on fire and allow it to burn and almost burn down the house.

20.   While pouring hot water from a kettle or flask, do that gently so it does not splash.

21.    Make sure you are with your purse as you leave the house to avoid embarrassment.

22.    As you are driving in or out of the house, make sure your children are not around the car, perhaps hiding and following at the rear of the car.

23.   Be mindful of your water boilers. They can be dangerous.

24.   Do not place your hot or plugged pressing iron on your clothe for too long. Your clothe might wear a bad look.

25.   Make sure to mop splashed water on the floor. You might be the one to strip and fall.

26.    Make sure there is a seat behind you before you sit. Do not assume. If possible, hold it while sitting.

27.   Keep away sharp objects like: scissors, blades, nails, pins, even medicine from children.

28.   Make sure to lay your baby well to avoid a fall.

29.   If you cannot swim, please do not swim for mere fun or show-off, unless an experienced person is there to teach and guide you.

30.  Do not fix very long artificial nails to avoid injury (for the ladies).

31.    Avoid fighting.

32.    Always have your car papers complete and accurate before hitting the road.

33.    Be sure to have your invite handy before going for a function to avoid being bounced.

34.    Be mindful of your friends. They might be the ones stabbing you at the back.

35.    Do not be a voracious spender.

36.    Teach your kids not to collect things from strangers.

37.     Let there be a clear demarcation between your personal/family life and your work/career.

38.    Do not touch any electrical appliance (whether plugged or not) with wet hands.

39.    Make sure to close the car door firmly before the car takes off.

40.    Be sure your car is in good condition before you start driving (e.g.: water in the radiator, functioning screen wiper, side mirrors, spare tyre in the trunk with necessary jacking equipment, rear mirror, seat belt, headlights, transfigator lights…).

41.   Always be good and stay healthy.

42.   Be Original!  Be You!  Be Responsible!

43.   Pray fervently.

A Must-Read!

THE   WOMAN’S   PLACE.

At my less-busy and most-relaxed moods, I find my mind wandering about life ordeals and opportunities, good or bad, which present themselves. Sometimes, we find ourselves in tight corners, while at other times, we enjoy the favourable conditions we find ourselves in, whether caused directly by us, our environment, beliefs, prevailing authorities or associates. But, we can spring up to our feet and shape our lives, make the best out of it and get our desired expectations, paying less or no attention to mere side talks. Suffice it to say that this is in conjunction with the saying: “As you make your bed, so you lie on it.” Victory does not come from who you are, but who you choose to be. When it comes to painful ordeals in life, the female gender can never be left out. Infact, they are the primary target!
Casting my thoughts on and trying to imagine the experiences of women in the hands of their lovers and life partners, prompts tears to roll down my cheeks. It is alarming and quite pitiful. Most often than not, these women are nailed to their “offices at home”

It's Good to Be An Artiste, but Better as a Bayelsan Artiste.

The long-awaited 1st ever International Bayelsa Jazz Festival held yesterday Saturday, December 07, 2013 at the state capital, Yenagoa. The event was gracefully honoured by the State governor, Gov. Henry Seriake Dickson and his amiable wife; the Minister of Tourism, Culture and National Orientation, Min. Edem Duke; Artistes Timaya (Enetimi Alfred Odom) and Timi Dakolo. Hugh Masekela, and Somi, the Rwandan-born America-based jazz music superstar who signed a performance contract with the agency, were also in attendance. The Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria (MBGN) 2013 and Miss Bayelsa, Anna Ebiere Banner elegantly dressed, attended the event.
The jazz music fiesta with the theme ‘Rhythm of life’ was packaged by the Bayelsa State Tourism Development Agency (BSTDA) as part of its strategic plan to promote tourism in the state.
Earlier, Director-general, BSTDA, Mrs. Ebizi Ndiomu-Brown, revealed that the festival is being organised to promote and further market a sustainable and responsible tourism in the state.
The Jazz festival, she said, “will provide a veritable platform to market the rich and vibrant cultural heritage of our people and a banquet of our hospitality.”
“The essence of the training session is to build the capacity of our young stars in the entertainment industry.
“They have been advised to take advantage of this window of opportunity to develop their talents in the music industry, so as to be more competitive in their chosen field,” she said.
She called on the private sector, especially the multinational companies operating in the South South region, to leverage on the festival to partner with the state government and also promote their products and services.
According to her, the jazz concert will be an annual event from next year, adding that it will be placed on the calendar of global jazz festivals.
During his opening remarks at the event, the governor gave a whooping sum of 100 million naira as financial support to all Bayelsan artistes. Doesn't it feel good to be a Bayelsan artiste, I ask?

Forbes Africa Person of the Year Named!

Among the top 5 finalists nominated for this year 2013 prestigious Forbes award were: The richest African man, Aliko Dangote (Founder and President of Dangote Group), Patrice Motsepe (Founder and Executive Chairman of African Rainbow Minerals), Strive Masiyiwa (founder of global telecoms group, Econet Wireless), Jim Ovia (founder of Zenith Bank Group) and Akinwumi Adesina (Nigeria's Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development).
Notably, Adesina's applaudable initiatives in the Nigerian agricultural sector have seen the empowerment of about 6 million farmers with modern day agriculture in Nigeria. It was indeed the survival of the fittest, considering the calibre of the finalists of the award.
In his acceptance speech, Adesina said: "my goal is to make as many millionaires, maybe even billionaires, from agriculture as possible". Going by the most important criterion in order to bag this award, it could be inferred that "Adesina is the only individual, who for better or worse, has had the most influence on events of the year".
Kudos we say to you! Congratulations on the conferment of your award! More grease to your elbow!

The 1st democratically-elected South African President passes on at age 95!

A great man is no more!

Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela (18 July 1918 – 5 December 2013) was a South African anti-apartheid revolutionary and politician who served as President of South Africa from 1994 to 1999. He was the first black South African to hold the office, and the first elected in a fully representative, multiracial election. His government focused on dismantling the legacy of apartheid through tackling institutionalised racism, poverty and inequality, and fostering racial reconciliation. Internationally, Mandela was the Secretary General of the Non-Aligned Movement from 1998 to 1999.
Today, he is claimed by a protracted illness and is no more.
Madiba, the world mourns you! You will always be remembered! Your legacy lives on!
